Akali, Rogue Assassin

Empower

Pay the listed activation cost to make the card Empowered when the ability resolves.

Normally, use it only if the card is not already Empowered, in your own Main Phase, outside a Showdown, with an empty chain. Players can respond. Specific card text can change these restrictions.

Action

Also lets you play the card or activate the ability in an open Showdown, including on your opponent's turn. Its normal timing still works.

Action alone does not let you respond to a spell or ability waiting on the chain.

Empowered

The linked Empowered text is active while the card has Empowered status.

The status itself adds no Might and does not ready the card; read its text for the benefit. It lasts until removed or the card leaves the board. Card text can allow exceptions, including multiple instances of the status.
