Overview
Viktor is a control deck that uses a deep removal package to stay ahead on board, then converts that lead into wins through Viktor, Leader's death-token engine and Thousand-Tailed Watcher as the late closer. The Dalian build doubles down on resource acceleration. Seal of Unity generates extra Order runes to power the deck's expensive spells, and Shen, Kinkou plus Xin Zhao, Vigilant give you better mid-game bodies than older Viktor lists ran.
The spell suite (Cull the Weak, Hidden Blade, Imperial Decree, Singularity) handles almost every board state. Facebreaker is the surprise: you can use it proactively to stall a key attacker, or hide it in hand to neutralize their best unit in a showdown. Viktor, Leader ties it together by generating Recruit tokens whenever a non-Recruit unit you control dies, so every trade turns into board advantage.
How to Play Viktor
Early Game (Turns 1-3)
Get units on board early. Honest Broker, Plundering Poro, and Vanguard Captain are cheap bodies that contest battlefields without spending much energy. Cull the Weak and Hidden Blade keep their units in check. Don't overextend; you want to survive into the mid-game with your hand intact.
Mid Game (Turns 4-6)
Viktor, Leader drops here and starts churning out Recruit tokens when units die. Seal of Unity accelerates your rune economy so you can cast expensive removal while still deploying threats. Facebreaker shines in showdowns, and hiding it can bait opponents into attacking into a unit they can't kill. Singularity removes up to two of their biggest units in one spell.
Late Game
Thousand-Tailed Watcher closes from ahead. Three copies means you almost always have one when you need it. Shen, Kinkou provides additional protection at this stage. The sideboard (Retreat, Salvage, Grand Strategem) gives you tools against control matchups that try to outlast your threats one by one.
New Player Tips
Common mistakes and things that aren't obvious at first
Don't force your combo early
Viktor wants to assemble pieces before going off. New players try to force their key plays on curve even when the board state doesn't support it. Be patient. Set up your hand, control the board, and fire your combo when it actually ends the game instead of just looking impressive.
Protect your key units aggressively
Viktor's best units are expensive and game-ending. If one gets removed cleanly, you're set back multiple turns. Always hold up at least one protection spell when you deploy a threat. The tempo loss from holding energy open is nothing compared to losing your win condition.
Learn the matchup speed
Against aggro (Annie, Jinx), you need to stabilize fast and play defense. Against control (Garen, Lux), you're the one applying pressure and they're reacting. Viktor plays different roles in different matchups, and knowing which one you're in by turn 2 is the biggest skill gap between new and experienced pilots.
Key Cards to Know
- - Thousand-Tailed Watcher: The late-game finisher. Three copies make up most of this deck's price tag, and most of its wins.
- - Seal of Unity: Gear that exhausts to add an Order rune, accelerating your resource economy. Lets the deck cast expensive removal and threats ahead of curve.
- - Viktor, Leader: Generates a 1-might Recruit token in your base whenever another non-Recruit unit you control dies. Every trade is a trade-plus-one.
- - Singularity: Deals 6 to each of up to two units. Removes the biggest threats on the board in a single spell, and the flexibility to split targets makes it hard to play around.
- - Facebreaker: [Hidden] spell that stuns a friendly unit and an enemy unit at the same battlefield. Best used as a surprise in a showdown to neutralize their strongest attacker.
- - Xin Zhao, Vigilant: Aggressive Rare that applies pressure. Three copies give the deck a reliable mid-game threat.

Budget Meta
Three swaps drop this deck from ~$140 to under $40. Thousand-Tailed Watcher and Seal of Unity account for nearly $109 of the total. Replacing them preserves the full removal package and the Viktor Leader engine. The deck plays the same way through the mid-game; it just closes more slowly without the big finisher.
